KNIGHT CANCER INSTITUTE: SECOND OPINION ON SECOND OPINIONS

The Knight Cancer Institute has been on my mind since its inception. Why would a sports company founder devote huge resources to starting a cancer institute? It wasn’t a one time donation. Yesterday the Institute pulled in another $2 billion. It’s a big story built on little stories like this:

MARATHON MINDSET OFF THE TRACK

I hear marathon mindset and the number 332 pops up. Three hours and thirty-two minutes, the longest 3:32 I can remember. Soooo long it felt never ending, but it all worked out after twenty-six miles. If things don’t work out, then it’s not the end, which is often a problem.

THIS WEEK, NEXT WEEK, WEEK TO WEEK

This week is the key to living in the now, not last week. Or next week. With a calendar of baby boomer plans stretching across the entire year, focusing on one week at a time is the best way.. Why not one day at a time? Because it’s too short, and a month is too […]

PERFECT TIMING: THE GOOD AND THE BAD

Perfect timing:The longer you work at something, the better you get. At least that’s the idea, the story, and it’s true. Sometimes. It’s not true when you don’t learn how do something the right way from the beginning. Take a playing guitar for instance:

TAKING TIME, MAKING TIME

Taking time for the little things is something we’re supposed to do. Making time to get it right is always the challenge. In some worlds, maybe yours, time is elusive, slippery, until you get rewired one way or the other.

DO PORTLAND CHRISTMAS LIKE A THREE YEAR OLD

A Portland Christmas goes one of two ways: “I will never set foot in that hell-hole.” Or? Peacock Lane? Let’s go.”

WANT TO DO RIGHT, BUT NOT RIGHT NOW?

Who wants to do right? Start something and doing it right seems pretty basic. But that’s not how things always turn out. Then what happens?

TIMING MATTERS, AND NOW IT’S HIP TIME

Timing matters when it comes to personal health Don’t wait too long, or jump too early, just be on time. Call it good luck, serendipity, or negligence, but you’ll know when the time is right to act. But not everyone is on the clock.

GOOD TIMING FOR A BETTER LIFE FROM COMICS TO SPORTS AND BEYOND

Good timing is what you see in the rearview mirror. It’s history, memory, and and it’s a rush. We all have our own story, unaffected and pure at first. Then things start happening. These things, those things, and we learn our story. Most important, we learn how to tell our story with good timing.

RIGHT TIME? YOU KNOW IT WHEN YOU MISS IT

“The right time is when the time is right.” It’s that simple. And it goes by in a blink. After that the timing is all wrong. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a better feel for the clock?
