MONDAY MORNING STARTER: COMPLAINING?

Monday morning, like every morning of the week, starts with a quick look online to see what’s up in there, to see if anything sticks past the first scroll. What stuck? Complaining. My online peeps are disappointed in their engagement numbers. No one reads their posts. And it hurts soooo bad.

ORDINARY MEN: RESERVE POLICE BATTALION 101 REVIEW

After watching a portion of a documentary on German Reserve Police Battalion 101 I’m left with concerns. As the story is told on Netflix, ordinary men were recruited into police work. The idea of joining a police staff was better than going to the front. The guys selected got some extra training, then loaded up […]

BEATLES LIVERPOOL FROM THE M6

The Beatles Liverpool showed up on the way from Lancaster to Cambridge. Should I stop and look around? Pose by the statue? At the very least, sing a few Beatles songs on the way by? Me: Honey, take a music video of the Beatles Liverpool sign, and me singing. Her: Really?

THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FROM JIMMY TO MARVIN TO MADISON SHANLEY

Who would have guessed the National Anthem would be a hit at the Woodstock Arts and Music Festival in 1969? Was it an odd choice for guitar ace Jimmy Hendrix to play? Let’s ask the New Yorker magazine for an opinion:

USEFUL NOISE WHEN SKIP A ROPE IS THE SOUND OF COMFORT

The sound of useful noise is a comfort. Some find it in a guitar, others in a piano, still more in the song they sing in the shower. No one sings Skip A Rope for comfort. It’s a mean song that’s beginning to sound like a new national anthem. Hit the link to hear it. […]

ASMR: BETTER THAN THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE

ASMR, autonomous sensory meridian response. If you’ve never heard of it, now you have. It may sound like something explained by science, but I don’t think so. It’s more a feeling, a feeling I call the ‘Barry White Response.’
