CLEAN DRINKING WATER? I’LL HAVE ANOTHER

This is the Tualatin River water, not drinking water. With this river running through Washington County to the lake in Lake Oswego, then out to the Willamette, why isn’t it tapped for drinking water in Tigard and LO? This warning from the Tualatin Riverkeepers lays it out:

ARMY ENLISTMENT? HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Me: Today is my Army enlistment anniversary. Did you remember. Wife: It’s also the day my Mom died. Me: It is? I mean, yes, it is, and also my anniversary. Wife: I’m glad you remember it. Me: And there’s another thing to celebrate on the same date. Wife: What?

WANTED MAN vs NEEDED. THERE’S A DIFFERENCE?

If you’re waiting for a wanted man to make life better, you’ll be waiting a minute. This man was a one-float parade around Silverton during my last visit. You could hear him from blocks away with his booming sound system blasting AC/DC. When I left, he followed my car out of town, then turned back […]

CLASSIC PORTLAND RIVALRY

Social media Portland isn’t for the weak of heart. It’s either heaven on earth, or a hell hole from the underworld sticky goo. If you showed up recently, things are looking better; if you’ve been here a minute you’ve seen the ups and downs. Lastly, if you’ve lived here your whole life? Uh oh.

PORTLAND BRIDGES – 1971

Is it getting slippery? Harder to hold on to? Then you read something […]

FULL MOON ROCK AND ROLL

It’s best to have a full moon and rock and roll playing during a lunar eclipse. These ladies are showing the back catalogue. Which one’s pink? I don’t know, but I see the dark side of the moon. Music and celestial events go hand in hand, like Pink Floyd during a Pink Moon.

DARK MOON RISING

The dark moon hit my eye last night in Portland, Oregon. Tucked away on the 14th floor near the Willamette River with friends and drinks, I interrupted everything for a special announcement: “I see a bad moon rising.” It looked huge, this moonrise, and kept getting bigger and more interesting. What’s not to like about […]

FRESH AIR MAKES PEOPLE PEOPLE HUNGRY?

If you’re looking for fresh air, and who isn’t, you’ll find it in abundance at your local nursery where acres of plants release oxygen. It may not feel, or look, like an oxygen tent, and you’re not a patient, but it does wonders. If it’s not the air that dazzles you, it’s the colorful blossoms, […]
