LOOKING BACK TO SEE IF YOU WERE LOOKING

I was looking back recently after hearing how great things used to be. Baby boomers had it so easy you could buy a house and two cars and a boat and send three kids to college on a part-time paper route for a weekly publication. As a result the entire generation grew lazy and complacent:

GAMBLING? KNOW WHEN TO FOLD ‘EM

Call it gambling, gaming, or wagering. What it is is putting money down on a horse to win, place, or show. It’s feeding twenties into a slot machine and pushing a button. In some regions it’s picking the right chicken. One rule that covers them all:

THE RIGHT SHIRT PULLS EVERYTHING TOGETHER

What is the right shirt for the occasion? As all fashionistas know, it depends on the occasion. You don’t want to go too over the top as much as you don’t want to look like you could care less. Try not to channel your inner-Lady Gaga. This was the right shirt for the No Kings […]

LASTING CONSISTENCY OVER THE LONG HAUL

Lasting consistency means one thing: dependable. You know what you’re looking for and you know what you’re getting when you find it. History is full of people needing things they can depend on and you can depend on this writer to dig them up. I know you’ve got a few yourself but that’s for your […]

DRAWING A LINE IN WATER

BREAKING STORY, OR BROKEN STORY

A ‘breaking story’ as we all know is called a scoop. “Hear it first, hear it here.” We’re conditioned to pay attention to new information. If it’s an update, we want it. New and improved? We want it. We want it because it will make our lives better. But . . .

HYPE MAN FOR BOOMERPDX

If my blog had a hype man it would sound like this: DON’T WASTE ANOTHER SECOND BEFORE SIGNING UP TO RECEIVE UPDATES FROM BOOMERPDX. No bonus, no gift, just an update on a thriving blog community. Boomers are big on not wasting time since our days are numbered with death at our doorstep. But why […]

CENSORED BLOGGER AGREES WITH CENSORS

Am I a censored blogger? Yes, I am. And it’s fair. If I weren’t censored I’d have a lot more material to work with. Not everyone wants a part in this long running project. My most blog worthy topics say, “Keep me out of it.” But I keep asking.

LIVING CONDITIONS WITH MORE LIFE

Living conditions are never permanent. That’s the good news. Things may seem like they’ll last forever, and they might, but we don’t. We’re here until we’re not.
