THE TRUTH, GETTING A HANDLE

Getting a handle on the truth shouldn’t be a big hurdle to clear.
All it takes is a little self-awareness.
The truth is your friend if you’re not too sketchy.
Will it set you free? Well . . .
It depends on the sort of shackles your used to.
Baby boomers like the truth, and the truth is, according to some baby boomer bloggers (hey-o), life is more than sex, drugs, and rock and roll, which is euphemism for sex, a double-entendre.
What double the sex mean? Hello millennials.
Who else isn’t shocked that the biggest generational demographic ever recorded spawned an even bigger generation?
I’m stunned, but only a little.
By my relentless efforts I’ve contributed my replacements.
Of course any effort from my side pales in comparison to my wife’s at every turn.
As it should.
Until any dad delivers a baby, the effort that counts the most, that’s the story.
Arguable? No, not if you’ve ever witnessed a birth outside of the hospital.
Apparently I was a close call in the taxi that arrived just in time, otherwise my name would have been Chevy.

Now We Live In The Old Days

Our old days, not olden, just old.
It gets that way when you’re not young anymore, or even close to it.
Young hearted? Yes. When you share time with a few kids under five you can almost see things through their eyes.
Add another ten years. I’ll do the math: fifteen.
It’s not the same world at fifteen as it is at five.
Fifteen year olds know things and are beginning to know even more.
Do we all remember being fifteen, or somewhere in the vicinity?
I do too.
At fifteen you could do man’s work. You also learned how hard that was. It wasn’t taught in school.
Get a little older and land a summer job as a vacation replacement in a factory or mill or processing plant and you meet the men who do man’s work.
They’re not all that cheerful about the life they’re living.

Is It Different Here

Over the years I’ve met a good share of blue collar guys who stay on the job, stay in the trade, because even if they hate it they can’t afford to start over.
With a wife and kids in tow, they can’t let them down.
How many jobs hold the same threat?
All of them once you’re married with kids.
They stay on for the money.
They stay on for the health care, which means something different to young healthy people.
“Why should we have to pay for old peoples’ medical problems they’ve developed over a lifetime of sex, drugs, and rock and roll?”
Don’t worry kids, we said the same thing. Did we take better care of ourselves?
With the science of how booze and tobacco hit in the long run blaring from every outlet, people change.
Not enough change by some standards, but still change.
Add obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and anxiety to the list of things that need another look and what happens?
More fitness activities? Better dietary choices?
Or weight loss injectables?
Don’t judge the gym rat, the runner, the powerlifter (Hey Terry), or the lap band, stomach staple, the GLP-1 Agonists.
They are live saving acts with positive results, so save any condemnation. It could be you.

PS:

You may not believe it now, but you will.
Every malady in a report listing God awful illnesses are all a possibility for you and your loved ones.
What are you gonna do about it?

PSS:

Keep putting your best effort out there every day.
Be better than you were yesterday, which can be the sort of hurdle you struggle to get over.
Can you do it? Get a handle on what it takes and do it.
You’ve got a fan right here, and that’s the truth you can take with you on the next shift.
