PILING ON SHOWS A PERSONAL PROBLEM

Just before a big election everyone becomes an expert on the issues and start piling on those they disagree with.
It’s a personal decision on whether to join in.
Instead of joining in the lowbrow debate of accusations and name calling, why not just vote?
Do what counts in the long run, not the number of clicks in the moment.
Instead of joining the chorus of pointing out personal problems, why not rise above it?
‘Can they do the job in the office they are running for’ is the only question that matters.
If they can? Vote for them.
If they can’t? Vote for someone else.
The key message is to vote.

Vote For Your Chosen One

Your vote is a statement of intent.
You vote the candidate up to the challenge of doing the job.
Skip the part about demeaning their opponent.
Leave that to the experts, the mud-slingers, the shit-talkers.
Your job is to vote. That’s it.
Open the envelope with the ballot in there and fill in the spaces with dark ink as directed.
Do that and you’re done. And don’t forget to drop it into a ballot box.
They look like this:

Do all of that and you are the sort of citizen who cares enough to make the small effort of voting.
I think it diminishes the accomplishment if you join in with the crowds on both sides calling each other stupid, uninformed, pussy grabbers.
It helps no one to accuse others of being a communist, a socialist, a sleeper agent.
At this late date, vote for the men and women who have a vision, a message, that resonates with you.
Vote to help those who have lost their way, lost their job, lost their housing.
Vote for those who pledge to adhere to the constitution without carrying a copy in their shirt pocket for reference.
Vote for those who study and understand the process of change in American policies from the inside out, not those who have demonstrated an elevated level of bullshit.

Piling On Is Not Helpful

Everyone’s got their gaps and cracks.
With this guy, some are more obvious than others.
And some, dear readers, are not. I’m looking at you, millennials.
Let’s understand together the message from the top: “Vote like it’s me on the ballot.”
That’s not an illegal order, it’s just another way to say, “We love the undereducated.”
Is it a request to walk around like you’ve got a load in your pants? Nooooo.
A request to bang your hands up in solidarity with the bruiser? Noooo.
To dump your wife, lust on celebrity ass, and dance the doubler-jerker? Noooo.

A rubber stamp is not on a ballot, but the next best thing is in ‘vote like it’s me.’
Like me? In my time in New York City I met generational guys from families who had no interest in anything but the block they lived on.
They were sidewalk guys with lawn chairs on their cement beach.
Their parents laid out on the same beach when they were young.
It’s a life of concrete and asphalt, of brick and mortar, steel and glass, and they feel like it’s the height of comfort, even luxury, for anyone with a brain.
For those of us raised in small town America with a functioning brain, we say, “That ain’t right.”
We want more than a rose.

There is a rose in Spanish Harlem
A red rose up in Spanish Harlem
It is the special one, it’s never seen the sun
It only comes out when the moon is on the run
And all the stars are gleaming
It’s growing in the street
Right up through the concrete

Yes, it’s a love song and the rose is the object of affection. We all know a Rose.

The Personal Problem Part

Problems occur when one person works overtime, works all night and parties everyday, to convince you and I that one rose in a city sidewalk is Mother Nature at her finest.
And we believe them because why not?
We already know the top man is the smartest man in the history of smart who knows more than anyone in any room anywhere about any topic.
Go ahead and give reddit a click.
The personal problem is balancing your own experience and knowledge in one hand, and what you’re told to believe in the other.
Voting as if the person on the ballot is the smart guy won’t make them any smarter. (lipstick, pig, etc.)
It won’t make you smarter when you see the house of cards tip, tip, tipping.
Should you vote as if a land-locked, cement-headed, city-boy is on the ballot? Nooooo.
Should you vote for a sniffing, indifferent, man of questionable wealth and taste? Nooooo.
A vote for the locker room talking, kancle-walking, dictator-stroking old man?
Noooooo.

PS:

Vote for the people who can do the job they’re asking for, as you understand it.
If you don’t understand it, vote for the person endorsed by those who do.
Remember, you’re not a socialist or a communist, but stay on the look out.
If it all sounds menacing, maybe look up a few definitions.

PSS:

Piling on shows a personal problem.
If the center of attention nods off at his desk surrounded by alert people, don’t pile on.
The center of attention sends shit-talking posts on social media in the middle of the night like a mean girl?
Don’t pile on.
Everyone is going through things we know nothing about.
One person seems intent on dragging us all along with his shadow candidacy on every ballot.
Instead of, “Vote like it’s me on the ballot,” change it to something more meaningful.
Vote like it’s you on the ballot, you and your wife, your daughter, your granddaughter, your husband, your boys.
Vote like you know what a double-talking con-artist sounds like, what a victim-playing bully is.
Vote like you know the difference between shit and shinola. (Hey Barry)
Vote, then drop it here:
