HOW TO VOTE CORRECTLY IN 2026 FOR MILLENNIALS

If millennials vote correctly in 2026, their voice will be heard since they replaced baby boomers as the largest generation currently crowding everyone younger.
Speaking for all boomers, I offer apologies to Gen Z, Alpha, and Beta.
And this to the millennials: your welcome.
Now that they’re older they’ve discovered yearnings for what they’ve taken for granted, like clean air, clean water, and a clean conscience.
Now they have a chance to keep moving in the cleaner direction.
That’s a picture of a Washington County Ballot Drop Box at the top.

This is a picture of a shit can, a dumpster, a garbage bin.
They are not the same as a ballot box.

If you put your ballot in a dumpster it won’t count.
It also won’t count if you fill it out with a blue or black ink pen, fold it into the envelope, and forget about it.
Vote correctly and throw it away? Noooooo.

Don’t do that.
If you want a voice in your community but don’t have a soapbox handy, and maybe afraid of heights, don’t throw your ballot away.
Find your people. Millennials are all about ‘finding our people.’
So find them in the voter guide and mark them up for the office they’re running for.
If you care enough to stay informed on current affairs, vote correctly.
You’re better than the trash.

Walk that ballot past the dumpster, past the environmental and scientific neglect, past the national and international floundering, past the weed store, and over to the difference maker.
You can do it.

Make A Difference And Vote Correctly

I like a Ballot Drop Box near a city hall and a police station.
It feels like traditional Oregon.
Do the office work of filling out your ballot and voting for a future you want to be proud of, a future your kids will be proud of, and deliver the finish product.

Taking a hand in civic life, that’s what you’re doing here.
Is it selfy-worthy? Hand worthy? Yes, and yes.
Take a picture of the vote and keep track.

PS:

I’m waiting for, “Oh you are so cute and old fashioned.”
“We wouldn’t be here if you hippies had stayed strong and contested the vote in the 2000 presidential election.”
“What are you worried about? You’re not going to live forever.”

Me: I’ve got plans.

PSS:

The joy of America is finding the spirit of discovery in people new and old, from people whose relatives stepped off the Mayflower to those who arrived yesterday.
I like an America of common goals and ambitions, an America built on the same foundation for those at the top as it is for those at the bottom.
I like an America interested in lifting the floor of poverty and hunger for those working for a better future, and dropping the gavel of justice on those whose actions warrant it.
I like millennials who know enough to vote in their best interest, who trust in the process of change in a system of government based on popular sovereignty, otherwise known as a democracy.
Vote based on what you see and understand, not for some goblin running under the cloud of ‘pretend it’s me on the ballot.’
In our hyper-linked reality where wifi is important enough to change hotel rooms for, important enough to huddle around a server, do we need to pretend someone is on a ballot by another name?
Millennials need to understand the difference. Some do, some don’t.
Do you? Vote properly, vote correctly.
Be somebody and vote.
