WRITE SOMETHING WORTH READING, DO SOMETHING WORTH WRITING ABOUT

‘Write something’ is the alarm clock for every writer, Daylight Savings Time or not. What that ‘something’ might be? That’s the challenge. Everyone who has taken an English class, had an English segment, or passed a love note, has done it. But not you? Here’s my favorite writing lash:

BREAKDOWN BLOGGER BREAKS IT DOWN

The Breakdown Blogger understands you. They’re not breaking down, but breaking down big things into smaller bits. Not everyone is strong enough to carry the big things all at once. Call it a fact of life. Or call it nonsense. But before you call it anything, consider the weight.

INSIDE HISTORY? FIND AN INSIDER

How does anyone get the real story inside history? Read books, watch documentaries, tour museums? That’s a good start, and for many an end to the story. But what if you want more because you know there’s more out there?

WRITER WORKING ON CASU-11

The writer working on Carrier Aircraft Service Unit 11 is William Little. The official title of his book is MECHANIC ON THE WING, The Untold Story of Carrier Aircraft Unit Eleven (CASU-11) 1943-1946. I first heard about it in 2019 during a Rick Steves tour of Paris. There was something about meeting a former Navy […]

CARING BLOGGER ASKS FOR HELP?

If anyone asks if you know a caring blogger, what do you tell them? Them them yes, then explain what it is. In case you have trouble with the explanation, I’ll help. This is a caring blogger:

FAMILY ROADSHOW WITHOUT THE ANTIQUES

The Family Roadshow is the same as the show on OPB but with livelier stories. Instead of, “This belonged to my great-great grandmother and it’s been handed down generation after generation,” why not The Truth? “I stole this off my grandpa at his wake,” Or, “This book used to be my Mom’s. She’s still looking […]

SEATTLE FREEZE WARMS TACOMA

The Seattle Freeze in February isn’t about the weather. It’s not about the weather in July or August, either. If it’s not freezing weather, then what is it? Attitude, a chilly attitude.

SILENT WORK TAKES ON A LOUD LIFE OF ITS OWN

The latest Joe on the NFL’s biggest stage, Joe Burrow, says do the silent work and keep it to yourself. Has Joe done his work in silence? He can give advice on the the work since what he’s done has paid off. After all he’s a starting quarterback in this season’s Super Bowl. So how […]

DON’T CARE, OR CARE, THERE IS NO TRY

If you don’t care about something, stay off the soapbox. Save your big talk for something you care about, we’ll figure out the rest. Once you’ve been around the block a few times it gets easier to care than not care. Why, you ask?

WRITING SUCCESS THAT DOESN’T SUCK EVERY DAY

Asking anyone about their writing success is like asking if they won anything on their trip to Las Vegas. Everyone’s a winner when they get back home. “Best trip ever. Paid for itself.” Along with other various and assorted bulls!t. Writing success is easier to track, easier to explain, yet still a gamble.
