Acceptable losses come with a line. Whether losses are acceptable or not usually depends on which side of the line you’re on. If friends and family are on one side, and you’re not? Either they’re on the loss side, or it’s you. Then what? Since I’ve been around a while, here’s a few ideas:

Dad days never end, and I’m glad. I didn’t sign up for the part time version. There wasn’t a switch to throw for the eighteenth birthday that said, ‘I’m done.’ I’ve been a dad since my first born, then doubled up with my second. Since then a few surprises joined up, just not those surprises.

Long relationships that have stood the test of time amaze me. Call me befuddled, bemused, bewildered. How can anyone do it, let alone me? The first thing is finding anyone able to put up with your crap. It’s works even better when they don’t consider your crap to be crap. Take my wife, please.
