CHEAT DAY TO EAT ANYTHING? ANYTHING?

A cheat day sounds good, doesn’t it.
Free to do what you want to do, but this one is about food.
Freedom to eat anything? What makes it different than any other day?
I’m so glad you asked: first you need something to cheat on.
Like a diet.
You get a cheat day on your diet when you feel like quitting and diving into a pot of beef stew, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
For a real cheat day you need to be on a good food binge more than a day.
For a cheaters’ day, tell yourself you’ll start that diet right after cheat day.
This method is guaranteed to fail, but it is so fun to plan.

 

Any Food, Any Time, All Day? Yes

 

Good sense for good food means good greens.
It’s not go crazy day for everything fried. It could be, but don’t.
Steamer clams? Yes.

 

 

A big burger? Yes.

 

Beer? Yes.

 

Burrito with Christmas sauce? Yes.

 

Munchies from the Devil’s Punch Bowl? No.

 

 

Watching Ohio State Instead Of Oregon Play In The Last College Football Game Of The Year?

 

It’s been a bitter end to the college football season.
The Oregon Duck championship window is still open, but this year felt like it was open extra wide.
Since I saw it in Cannon Beach, it was a road game.
It was hard to watch the Notre Dame quarterback go wild for one series and look tired the rest of the game.
Not so hard munching down a bag of pretzel snacks.
Before the game started my wife and I stopped for lunch.
The happy hour burger came highly recommended, so I got the reuben.
Bad move. The burger was exceptional at $10, the reuben not so exceptional at $30.
After the game I had a plan: leave Cannon Beach the next day with a stop at the Chocolate Cafe for a coffee and a cookie.
Today is the day after.
No sugar, no dairy, no booze, no coffee, not much of anything.
After what felt like a cheat week, there won’t be much to cheat for quite a while.
I’m going to be tired for a couple of days, then snap out of it.
I might lose a few pounds, reset my metabolism, and build momentum to keep going strong.

 

How To Manage A Cheat Day

Once I feel like I’m on the path, I’ll sabotage the effort with a cheat day, the will linger a week, a month?
Naw, I’ll probably pick one cheat meal and call it good.
I’ve had a great time putting caution to the wind, now I’ll focus.
Smaller portions, no snacks, nutrient dense food. That’s the ticket.
