LIVING LARGE? WHAT’S THE SECRET

Living large usually means more than drawing a breath. Most people compare themselves to others for reference. Not me. My large living is no secret:

BIG CROWDS OF A LIFETIME

Big crowds signal over population? Not when it’s an Olympic crowd in Paris. Did I feel like part of the crowd watching on TV? Yes, I did, and it felt close enough.

MIDNIGHT TRAIN GOING ANYWHERE?

The midnight train is always going somewhere. You and I? Not so much. Oh, we’re going somewhere, too, but we don’t know where that is. And we’re not supposed to.

DOING MORE? MORE WHAT?

‘Doing more’ is the vibe hanging over me, maybe you too. ‘Make your time count.’ ‘Give your all.’ ‘Don’t waste your energy.’

BROKEN WILL? HOW TO BREAK IT

Kristen Faulkner left a broken will on her way to Olympic gold. More than one. It was a race that seemed settled with two leaders breaking away from the first chase group. All Vos and Vas had to do was pour it on to the finish line. Faulkner was out of the picture. Then she […]

GET UP, WAKE UP, STAND UP

Get up, wake up, stand up, and look where you’re going. Those were words from a surfer teaching another how to surf. It’s the complete opposite of my surf school. I didn’t get up, didn’t wake up, didn’t stand up. Oh, and I didn’t look around.
