DOG WALKING: THE LONG WAY HOME

Dog walking is the key to longevity?
Whose longevity, your’s or the dog?
And how far do you need to walk?
My advice?
Get up, get out, and go.
You don’t feel good?
If you can walk, walk it off.
You’re too busy?
From what I’ve seen over the years is the one too busy to step it out eventually breaks down sooner.
It’s a foot, a knee, a hip, your back, your neck. It’s something.
Whether it’s a doctor’s orders to walk, or the mirror telling you to walk, or it’s just a habit, get after it.

Logging The Miles

Reddit tells how many miles it takes to walk ten thousand steps.
An apple phone keeps track.
This isn’t world record stuff, or official, but 10K steps is around 4-5 miles.
A 10K road race is 6.2 miles, so by my calculations, if you can take ten thousand steps, you can probably get a 10K race done.
At a walking pace.
If you want to feel fast, start at the back of the pack and pass as many people as possible.
They might pass you later, but why not see what it feels like to leave them in your dust?
No taunting allowed.

But The Weather

I layered up, four layers, and got wet.
But I also got the steps in.
For the dog walking part, I forgot her raincoat, but we rolled on.
Was it fun? Yes, no matter what my face says.
Did the dog like it? She liked it a lot.
There are places she can run off leash, so I let her go, but I’ve got the Finger Of God to bring her back.
If things get overheated, I unzip the layers. The dog can’t do that.
If you can’t get motivated on your own, find a millennial to walk with.
Young people love showing baby boomers how it’s done.
One foot after another.
It’s not a new thing, but you’ll get results if you get with the program.
Dog? Check.
Kid? Check.
Ready. Set. Go.

PS: Stay warm.

PSS: Afterwards give yourself a treat.
