MODERN ELDERS SEEK AUDIENCE WITH YOUTHS

Modern elders want to be heard by someone. They have much to impart to the rising generations, but there’s a problem. Can the ‘Me Generation’ ever get over itself enough to make sense? Will young people ever trust those who said never trust anyone over thirty?

NEXT YEAR, MAYBE THE YEAR AFTER

Next year shows up fast, so fast that you haven’t gotten over anything from the last year. Suddenly you’re stacking the new ‘get over it’ on top of the old ‘get over it.’ You used to care about getting over things. What happened? This happened:

MANSPLAINING MANSPLAINING IS NOT MANLY UNLESS . . .

A man mansplaining mansplaining is as useful as men explaining birth to a new mom, or why men are so drawn to bullies like Donald Trump. With that said, do you want to know why? Because I’ll tell you why. Then you will understand it better.

BROTHER CHECK IN: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY

In my time, I’ve lived small town, urban, and suburban, though I’m not a fan of the suburban lifestyle tag.

BULLIES AND BITCHES: BORN THAT WAY?

Genetics no excuse for bullies and bitches. Some time ago in the Baby Boomer fog of age, like grade school in the mid-60’s at Bangor Elementary, voted the cool school by all former Bearcats, bullies and bitches came in all shapes and sizes. Turns out the time of day also mattered for them. A kid […]

OLYMPIC YEAR TRAINING FOR ELECTION YEAR

Why sports and elections both need Olympic Year Training. Every four years the Olympic Games roll around. With the Winter Games and Summer Games broken up, we get the Olympics every two years, but for now let’s use the four year schedule. Besides, it matches better with the American Presidential Election cycle. We’re not talking […]

MAKING NEW FRIENDS

Is it harder for aging baby boomers to make new friends? When the cycle of life leaves you lonely, it feels like everyone else is on the bicycle of life and you’ve got a flat. If that’s you, get moving. Walk it out. But to where? How do you make new friends? Where do you […]
