A SECOND LOOK AT “THAT AIN’T RIGHT”

What’s a second look at this garage arrangement tell you?
What’s missing: a fitness area with a treadmill, squat rack, work bench, maybe a couple of cars stacked on a lift, and a designated music area with guitars, drums, and amps all ready to go.

This is a great set-up for people ready to move. Loading time in three, two, one . . .

HISTORICAL FATHER’S DAYS 2026

Historical Father’s Days in the olde country where I watched my children roam like Vikings conquering a new land.
Corfe Castle fell to my marauders.
The locals didn’t like our style of exploration.
The walkway through the ruins led to more investigation off the path.
“How would you like it if we went to your country and climbed on the Jefferson monument?”
“If it was in ruins like this it sounds fun.”

FARMING DISASTER DONE ON PURPOSE

So much of the awful results of the farming disaster in the old Soviet Union came from bad policy decisions.
In the early 1930’s their main guy Stalin decided he knew more about science and farming than anyone.
He also had advisers explaining it to him in a way he agreed with.
Who doesn’t love the unconditional, “You are right, comrade.”
There was no room for disagreement.

FOLLOW THE LEADER? NOT SO FAST

‘Follow the leader,’ they say.
‘It’ll be a fun learning experience.’
If that’s a green light for you, take another look.
Maybe ask a question like, ‘Where are we going?’

RESPECT PEOPLE WHO TRUST YOU, OR . . .

This is the shocking end to a man trusted to respect people in his country.
It was all good until it wasn’t.
Is there a lesson to learn?
The people he governed had had enough and voted him out?
Nooooo.

CANCER TREATMENT NEEDS THE ROCKY TALK FROM DR. BALBOA

When you need a pep talk who do you listen too? I go to Rocky Balboa for the good stuff. When he started out with, “Let me tell you something you already know,” he had me hooked. It’s like the doctor telling me I’ve got HPV16 tongue cancer. He had my attention. He told me […]

HPV16 TONGUE CANCER HARD TO UNDERSTAND? HOLD MY BEER

Hpv16 tongue cancer is hard to understand, but only if you look at the numbers.   From cbsnews.com:   Eleven million American men are infected with oral human papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to cancers of the head, neck and throat, a new study reports.   That equates to 1 in 9 […]

The gym mayor checks their constituency. They spot, they talk. They walk from machine to machine. Gym councilmen / women spread an array of weights and surgical […]

Colin Kaepernick Kneels For Nike Like I Kneel For Nike

Do I kneel for Nike? I sure do, but it’s more in awe than anything else. Nike is awesome. So is Colin Kaepernick, but I don’t kneel to him.   For some reason the Kaepernick Kneel is an irritant instead of a call to action.   It is a call to action, right […]

BOOMER AND THE BOMB

Every August Brings The Atomic Winds Of The Bomb Howling Out Of History. History is more than binge watching the Hitler Channel with a few War In The Pacific shows tossed in for balance. If history is your passion, but you aren’t a history major with an advanced degree, your opinion still matters. Every August […]

SILVERTON SEVEN BRIDES BREWERY FESTIVAL

It wasn’t billed as a festival for a Thursday night, but it was this time. A festival of survivability after a heart-thumping force march on the hottest day of the year. Add one of the smokiest days from Canadian fires and it felt like a heavenly Seven Brides Brewery cloud. How wonderful was this? Everyone […]

What’s better than traveling to new places and meeting the locals? Being the locals and meeting travelers.
