CUTTING WEIGHT FOR BETTER OR WORSE

Cutting weight is a fact of life in a sport like wrestling. A woman missed her weight in the Paris Olympics. She is the latest in a long line of surprises at the weigh in. The big surprise for me is that she didn’t forfeit the finals match and get the silver medal.

LETTING IT FLY? WHERE ARE THE WINGS

‘Letting it fly’ is another way of saying, ‘Is that all you’ve got?’ One of my goals in life is not backing down to fear. Am I afraid of a famous tea room? Yes, but I let it fly. How did I get over this unreasonable fear? I had help.

RELATIONSHIP PRACTICE? YOU NEVER KNOW

Relationship practice includes the ongoing question: What is real vs What isn’t. It’s a struggle for some, but not here. Why? Because I understand the rules at the most basic level. No family pics allowed, which is a shame because we range somewhere between good looking and beautiful.

EXTRA EFFORT WHEN IT MATTERS

WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE, A PORTLAND STORY

Women’s healthcare is just another story if you’re not a woman, don’t know any women, if there are no women in your life? Does that sum things up for you, or does it sound far fetched? Everybody has women in their lives at some point. Just ask your mom, your grandma, your sister, your wife, […]

PERSONAL ATTACHMENTS KEEP GROWING

I’ll define ‘personal attachments’ first: it’s your leg, your arm, your head. It’s anything you’ve grown fond of. Baby boomers are officially old enough to have grown fond of most everything. And that’s a normal life.

WEIRD PEOPLE? LIKE WHO

Weird people you know invite you over for a backyard barbecue. That’s the scene. What could go wrong? They pull this out: Hearts and Gizzards. Let the grilling begin.
