TO MY DEAR READER, FROM A BLOG

Dear reader is plural, but writers are told to focus on just one person, and since I’m the writer around here . . .
Hopefully it’s a focus on the right reader?
The last thing I need is learning how my posts led a reader astray.
From me to you: DO NOT GO ASTRAY. DON’T DO IT.
As is often the case, this post is inspired by recent activities.
Because Davidpdx is a boomerpdx blog, I’m not here giving permission for direct action on anything.
If I were giving my dear readers permission for direct action on anything it would be to subscribe to my blog.
Go ahead, I’ll wait here. In the meantime . . .

These days I’m floating on the vibe of the Let Them Theory. It’s a book.
I haven’t read it yet, but crack it open for paragraphs in the beginning, middle, and end, along with the contents and the index.
So I’ve practically read it; it’s a good start and I’m still interested.
If you read a few blog posts the same way, and keep interest enough to read more related posts at the bottom of each blog post, I’ve done good work here.
Giving myself a high-five.
But, as a realist, a sharp analyst, and purveyor of online traffic, I know deep relationships with Davidpdx don’t happen.
It’s been happening for me over the past thirteen years, which is a major achievement, but not so much with everyone else, for which I’m thankful.
Here’s why:

Busy Days Full Of Minute By Minute Hours

PERSONAL ENDURANCE

Whether young, old, or somewhere in between, we all live under the weight of time.
Time is running out. We’re running late. The clock is always ticking and you can’t make it stop.
So you go hard, go often, and make plans to go again.
It’s hard.
To this mindset I say, let them.
I also say remember to do your part, keep up your end of the bargain, which is don’t be a problem to yourself and those around you.
I recommend my blog as a helpful remedy to the rush of time.
There you are on a phone, tablet, or laptop reading the well thought-out posts from the desk of a professional blogger.
You get pop-ups, reminders, ads, cookies, and more decisions to make than you did buying your last car.
Then you land on Davidpdx and take a breath.
No sales, no promises, no pressure to do anything.
Then you feel it. You feel pace, the pause, the reflection, and time feels more under control.
You feel more under control.
Whether placebo effect, or mysterious mental soothing, reading, the act of reading, is medicinal.
If you disagree you’ve been reading the wrong stuff. Lol

The Right Stuff

PERSONAL ENDURANCE

If you haven’t met them yet, you will:
Some people ask questions that shed new light in the darkness.
Some people point to a better way of doing things.
Those are the dear reader people on Davidpdx.
They play along, go along, knowing I’m not a former New Yorker writer, a best selling writer pulling the big literary dollars and swaying public opinion with each syllable.
Even so, I’d read me if I weren’t the writer.
I’m a testaments to persistence, a long running show of endurance.
For the past thirteen years I’ve written over every hurdle and every mud puddle life has laid upon my table.
Like you, it’s been a lot; unlike you I’ve written it out.
Not to point fingers, not to accuse and deride, I’ve written it out because I believe it’s the right thing to do.
There are those who say it only counts if the work reaches a wide audience and pulls readers into a funnel of more choices they can either engage, or ignore.
If you’re reading here and missed it, which happens too often, I want you to do a survey. No, not to register or enroll in anything, but just an inventory of you.
Check the boxes of dedicated dad or mom, devoted husband or wife, and grandparent who knows where the line is and doesn’t step over too often, and you’ve checked into the rolls of Davidpdx.
Welcome aboard.

PS:

The beauty of living a good life is seeing how it’s reflected on what’s around you, what you draw, and what you’re drawn to.

PSS:

Anyone who disagrees with what you call a good life? Let them.
