LONG WAY TO THE TOP FOR OREGON DUCKS

The long way to the top started with Ohio State where the Oregon put one duck foot in front of another until the end. It wasn’t the usual end for games like this. Ohio State had it wrapped up and ready for delivery with ten seconds to go, then six seconds. One thing led to […]

BIG DISAPPOINTMENTS, BECAUSE THERE’S MORE THAN ONE

My big disappointments are what come up first in a life review. “Dang, that could have worked out better.” Following that track doesn’t lead to a very good review. This post will explain how to work it out better for both baby boomers and the new biggest generation of Millennials. Go big, or go home, […]

DIFFERENCE MAKER FOR OREGON FOOTBALL, PT.2

A difference maker is a game changer on the football field. They run faster, throw further, hit harder. It all shows up in video review. “Look at him go.” But what if it’s not a player, but a coach?

OREGON DUCKS FOOTBALL THIS YEAR, NOT NEXT

Oregon Ducks football roster includes ninety-nine players, thirty-five transferring in from other schools. They came to Saturday ranked #3, one spot below their opponent. They woke up Sunday with a one point win over #2 Ohio State. And as the new #2. How sweet is that team?

SHAPE UP. THEN WHAT?

Shape up. I’ve told myself that more than once. I’ve also looked at others and said the same thing. To myself. Most of the time.

BE SOMEBODY? THERE ARE CLUES ALONG THE WAY

You’ve heard the request to ‘be somebody?’ Be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, and more. The request usually comes from an adult speaking to someone who screwed up. They ask why we can’t be better than what we’re in trouble for. It’s different when we’re in trouble with ourselves.

EXTRA EFFORT? WHO’S THE JUDGE

There you are doing your best, trying your hardest, and a voice in your head says, ‘You’d do better with a little extra effort.’ If you’ve heard it, do you know where it come from? A coach, a teacher, a parent. “You could be somebody if you actually applied yourself.”

HEALTH JOURNEY ON A ROUGH ROAD

A ‘health journey’ is a phrase used by people with lots of doctor appointments. If you’re old enough you either take that rough road yourself, or you show up for others on it. Personally, I’ve never liked the term. I like it even less when it applies to young people coming down with old people […]
