‘THE PLOT’ THICKENS: A BOOK REVIEW

The Plot is the first book I’ve read that includes Facebook and twitter as important characters. No that’s not a spoiler. Neither is this: they’re cast in a dark light. Did I enjoy reading The Plot? A reviewer on Amazon said the first third drags along but that’s the part I most enjoyed.

ANGRY PEOPLE PULL MORE ANGER

Angry people need an audience like a bird needs air, like a fish needs water. Without other people the angry one is a solo yeller. With other people they are a leader calling out ‘THE TRUTH.’ That’s when ‘the truth’ takes a dive.

MARRIED LIFE GOING LONG, LONGER, KEEP GOING

Married life seems long when you think how long you’ve been married. Then someone else says they’ve been married longer and calls you newly weds. Newly weds after thirty-seven years? That’s it? I keep it more basic: Every day has a first date feel. You remember first dates?

BREAKDOWN BLOGGER BREAKS IT DOWN

The Breakdown Blogger understands you. They’re not breaking down, but breaking down big things into smaller bits. Not everyone is strong enough to carry the big things all at once. Call it a fact of life. Or call it nonsense. But before you call it anything, consider the weight.

HOPPER PAINTINGS: “YOU’VE BEEN HOPPERED”

Hopper paintings have turned into Bruuuce. I love both of them, but I might be done. Toooo depressing. Tooo raw. Too much of so little. To them I must bid adieu, au revoir, so long, goodbye. But first a few questions:

ONE PORTLAND BABY BOOMER DECADE

My Portland baby boomer decade began in 1980. It began when I stepped off the bus after a three day ride from Manhattan. (Hey, B.) For twenty-six year old me it was a life changer. By 1990 I was heading out.
