CONSISTENCY OVER TIME FOR THE WIN

Consistency over time is not over-rated.
Not under-rated either; some people call it a life-style.
Others call it a habit of boring people.
Well, if the name fits . . .
If it’s boring to date your wife? I’m it.
Do chores on schedule? Booo-ring.
Keep time for kids? Oh, please. Just grow up, would you?
Or, carry the hell on.
Keep punching tickets, checking boxes, and improving.
I’ve spilled something on every couch in every house me or my kids live in.
White couches, too.
The big joke was draping myself in a tarp to catch the run-off, the tip-overs, the oopsie accidents.
Then someone spilled on my rug. I’m sure it was an accident?
I pulled it out, rolled it up, and took it to the run cleaner who quoted me $500.

Me: What am I getting for $500?
Rug Guy: Improvement

No promise, no guarantee, just improvement.
When I picked it up it was perfect, better than it was before.
Why did the guy understate his business?
Because you never know how things might turn out.
Under promise, over deliver.
That’s what Atiyeh’s did.
I’ll say the same for reading BoomerPdx.
You may find improvement.
I find improvement all the time, in myself and others.
When you look, you find things.

Look Harder

The top picture is from 2023.
This one is yesterday.
I’m embellishing my reputation as a napper, which is different than passing out dead drunk.
Since my head isn’t hanging to the side with my tongue out and drooling, this is a nap.
The dog approves.
When is the right time for a nap at age 71? Right now, “zzzzzzzzzzzz.”
I can fall asleep anywhere, even in bed, but it doesn’t last.
After some quick ‘shut-eye’ I wake up refreshed and ready to show more consistency.
Lose in ping-pong? I did.
Share a tasty tall vodka and OJ? I did. The dog didn’t do either.
If the evening had turned out like the one before it would have been a different scene.

The Night Before

My wife has a new anthem she will sing in 2026.
The kid and I broke out the guitars and worked it out in the key of G.
After we played it on the Apple pod it was in the key of A.
We founds a groove and held it, trading rhythm and leads back and forth.

If I was a flower growing wild and freeAll I’d want is you to be my sweet honey beeAnd if I was a tree growing tall and greenAll I’d want is you to shade me and be my leaves
If you were a river in the mountains tallThe rumble of your water would be my callIf you were the winter, I know I’d be the snowJust as long as you were with me when the cold winds blow
If you were a wink, I’d be a nodIf you were a seed, well, I’d be a podIf you were the floor, I’d wanna be the rugAnd if you were a kiss, I know I’d be a hug
If you were the wood, I’d be the fireIf you were the love, I’d be the desireIf you were a castle, I’d be your moatAnd if you were an ocean, I’d learn to float
All I want is you, will you be my brideTake me by the hand and stand by my side? All I want is you, will you stay with meHold me in your arms and sway me like the sea?

The singing started once we got the tune organized.
Consistency is the key to playing music. Find a song and play it.

PS: Love your life as it is and someone will eventually show up and make it better.

PSS: They might turn out to be the love of your life. Then you’ll need a song.
