ALPHA MALE OREGON TEST

The Oregon Alpha Male is a different breed.

It’s more than dressing up in cool guy clothes and driving a fancy car.

More than showing up at a public event and making a splashy entrance.

Being an Oregon Alpha Male is more than appearance.

If some stranger goes on twitter to call themselves ‘Alpha’ they are not alpha.

As in calling yourself ‘The Greatest’, it’s better to have someone else tag you.

Unless you happen to be Muhammad Ali, then you are The Greatest.

Reminder: You are not Ali, I am not Ali, only Ali is Ali.

That’s how that works.

The notion of ‘greatness’, like the GOAT, Greatest Of All Time, is not part of the self-hype program.

Your Alpha-ness is defined by numbers, standards, reputation, and how you treat others.

If you’re a big winner in whatever you do, show the clippings, the receipts, the pictures.

Or, better yet, let others sing your praise.

The Quiet Alpha Male Trail

When a virtuoso takes the stage with a musical instrument and captures the audience, it’s an Alpha moment.

But what about a lesser musician up there figuring it out?

Who is more Alpha, the expert or the hobbyist?

Which one is risking more, the experienced player who knows his audience, or the amateur who hopes to make it through a set of songs before stage fright kicks in?

The legend of Alpha Male says he can do anything better from the start.

But what if they never get started on anything and stay in their safe Alpha place where people are convinced without proof?

They are lower case alpha, if that.

Compared to the guy who shows up to get things done, does them, and moves on without fanfare, safe place alpha is lower than lower case.

Maybe not even an alpha male?

My Favorite Alpha Moment

The world stage is full of alpha males pushing up on people.

Real Alphas work to explain things, like actions and consequences.

They solve problems left over from others and move forward with better ideas.

Faux alphas fold in the heat of the moment.

They drop their tough talking man act to fit in.

The real Alpha lays out a plan for others to find a way to fit in.

The Oregon Alpha Male Test

Have you faced your fears instead of pretending everything is fine, really, just fine, thanks for asking?

Out here we have challenges just going outside.

It’s raining.

Too wet to go out? Do you need a raincoat? An umbrella?

It’s freezing rain. Do you go out with traction shoes? Take a drive?

Or it’s so hot the asphalt feels sticky. Do you cover up? Slather on sun blocker?

Since being alpha doesn’t mean being stupid and freeze up, or fry, be prepared.

And pass your preparedness along to new people who haven’t figured it out.

Alphas are the best helpers because they want to do more since they have more to prove.

An Oregon alpha male knows where they come from and don’t forget it.

It’s not the ‘west coast’ or the ‘Pacific Northwest.’

It’s Oregon along with a named town like North Bend, or Coos Bay.

Or Burns, Klamath Falls, Redmond, Gold Beach.

It’s not, “I grew up all over the place.”

They know the place and hold it dear no matter where life takes them.

To start being an Oregon Alpha Male, do something useful.

Make a gift, paint a picture, write a blog post. It’s never to late, Alpha.

If Steve Prefontaine is still an Alpha after all this time, you have hope.
