ABANDONED PLACES WHERE COMMON SENSE USED TO BE

abandoned places

Abandoned places can be literal or figurative.

The first is an old log cabin in the woods rotting into the ground; the other is the hollow spot in your chest where a heart use to be.

Why a heart? Because I’ve had recent experience with that hollow spot.

With regard to emotions, ignore them long enough and your heart rots just like that cabin.

Screw around with the Covid19 and it may be more than your heart that rots.

We take good health for granted. I least I do.

“How’re you doin’?”

“Fine, thanks.”

“How are you really doing?”

“Fine, thanks.”

No one can say “fine” today. Not today. Not with a virus stalking the elderly, now the young. Not when people of common sense get a vaccine while others refuse, are skeptical, or hesitant.

What is there to say about people who think the covid vaccine is a nefarious way to implant a tracking chip in their body? That it’s alien DNA and they’ve been chosen as a ‘host?’

Abandoned Places, Empty Lives

We are all important people. If you look in the mirror, then look away in disgust at the horrible person looking back, I’m not talking about you. This isn’t about you.

If I wanted this to be about a horrible person I’d be writing about the governors of Texas and Florida. But I’m not. Besides, how bad are they?

The real question is about influence.

People like the two governors line up behind disgraced ex-president Trump, which isn’t a bad thing for them. They line up intentionally after reading polls, taking the temperature of those around them, and watching Fox News.

It’s the people who can’t read, but absorb the bullshit of Fox News like the Ten Commandments from the Bible, who are at risk. Then they attend Sunday services and listen to some preacher spewing the same talking points:

The virus is a hoax, the vaccine is poison, masks make you sick.

That the virus has killed people they know doesn’t matter. ‘It was their time.’

‘The Holy Spirit is all the vaccine I need in this life.’

‘A mask infringes on my freedoms.’

The Echoes Of Empty

What is is about important people influencing others not to do what they’ve already done?

Why would a vaccinated public figure encourage others not to get vaccinated?

After much research and study and thought I’ve come up with an academic answer: They don’t give a shit about their constituency. If they did, they’d quit.

Their manly take on abortion doesn’t include any help for new mothers or new-borns. Gun laws they promote don’t include school shooters. The campaign money that keeps them afloat is a big secret.

From everything up to this point, I see that people want change. They need change so badly that they support leaders with no connection to them or their way of living.

Instead of tar and feathers for a rich old dandy pretending to reach out to them, they embrace him. No rail to ride him out of town like they’d do to any other charlatan invoking harm, they show up in his town and attack the Capitol.

The big change people like this want is returning to a time earlier than they remember where everyone knew their place and if they didn’t a good dose of fire hose and police dogs would show them.

Not Happening

Change back go a time when today’s forty and fifty year olds didn’t have to respect anyone’s feelings. You know them as the ‘fuck your feelings’ crowd. Turns out they have plenty of feelings themselves that need addressing in their abandoned places.

Rewind the clock for them to avoid living in a world that includes people they don’ t like who have the same rights and privileges as them.

They want four more years of the ecstasy they felt with Trump in charge doing his ‘executive time’, rolling his dumb-ass adult kids out for rally days, pushing his way around, and in general being the last person any of them running a business would hire.

But he is their change agent, a serial assaulting, defective lying, make-up wearing old man kowtowing to his foreign handlers. Doesn’t the sound like some far fetched conspiracy?

The abandoned places that common sense used occupy are getting a new look. Instead of a hollow man with unfulfilled wishes hammering on the gullible with their own feelings of betrayal outlined in Trump talks, change is happening.

It’s a change from a lying, stealing, opportunist taking advantage of the under-educated who love the Affordable Care Act but hate Obamacare.

The Biggest Liar in Chief can’t get over himself, and he won’t let his people get over him either. He keeps them wound up and they like it. Why? Because they share the same abandoned places.

No one can fill those places up for them, but why not shrink them back to a size that fits under the rocks they crawled out from.

That’s a start.
