How to answer an ethnicity question at the White House asked by someone identified as a White House insider?

A question asked by the Counselor To The President about ethnic origins feels out or place.

When do you usually talk about ethnicity? Is it when you’re trying to decide between 23andMe and AncestryDNA, when you yearn to discover who you really are?

Or around a campfire, family table, or medical documents. One thing is certain, a presser at the White House is an unexpected place to hear an ethnicity question, particularly when it’s followed by a nasty sounding blast about how sick the White House is about getting short changed by the mainstream media.

Color me surprised to see a woman so kind and gracious indoors, and flexible enough to curl up on an oval room couch, start snapping so hard at a reporter. She said doxxed, so I looked it up.

This shot has always made me wonder about judgement, and respect, but never about ethnicity. I see someone with little regard for the room they’re in, who they share it with, and little regard for common decency of no feet on the couch.

A better question than ‘what’s your ethnicity?

My question about people isn’t their genetic or cultural stock, it’s whether or not they stand up for themselves. Once I know that I stop worrying about anything else.

Or, I label people based on their sport. If two friends play basketball, they are basketball players.

If a group gathers to ride bikes together, they are bike riders.

If people have kids together, they are a family.

Dipping to questions regarding ethnic origins in public is a low way to answer a question asked.

“Do you have the time?”

“What’s your ethnicity?”

Maybe asking questions about ethnic origins is in the job description for a presidential counselor to dox reporters. That would explain it.
