A philosophico diary is where the writer writes what comes to them, like boomerpdx.

What comes to me are examples, evidence, of the past coming forward.

Today is reflected in the past. How does that work?

Everything worth doing has been done, just not by you.

Or me. Take last night for example.

I read advice from musicians I’ve never heard of talking about how people stop playing their guitar.

It’s not a one day thing where a light comes on, or goes out.

What happens is you stop making time in the world of hustle.

Last night the band played for hours, the best music night in months.

We played the old, the new, and everything in between, singing songs like they meant something.

Folsom Prison Blues always means something, especially the part about ‘don’t ever play with guns,’ and shooting a man in Reno just to watch him die.

Don’t do that. Listen to your momma instead.

If you feel like a kook playing in the basement, a little nutty getting everything set up and turned on, tuned up, it’s normal.

How else will you be ready to play when the time is right but through practice?

There you are singing into the mic and sometimes the song takes hold like something trying to escape in your voice.

Let it out, brother, and remember what it feels like being one with your instrument and voice.

Music only matters when you make it matter. Sooooo?
