RENT A CAR, NOT A RENTAL CAR: GO TURO

How many times do you land at an airport, take the shuttle to the car rental terminal, and wait, and wait, and wait, before you decide to go Turo?
Before Turo, that was the only choice.
You wait in line for a rental car, then watch the rental associate flip through a multi-page contract while explaining discounts, waivers, bonuses, as you watch the show.
Then, with a flourish, they ask you to initial this, initial that, until you finally sign on the dotted line with little, or no, idea of the small print.
Nagging doubt it not what you sign up for when you go Turo.
Last week we landed in Phoenix, got the bags, and followed the precise instructions to the Turo car.
Instead of the hustle and hassle of a national car rental agency, we found the car we asked for and hopped in.
There’s some magic in a trip where the plane is on time, the luggage is accounted for, and a car is nearby.
Is it luck, or good management? When the travel gods are smiling it’s everything is synced up.
From Condé Nast Traveler:

A friend told me she’d recently started using a rental car app called Turo. It’s like Airbnb for cars, she’d explained to me in shorthand: Regular people put their cars on the app, at a rate they set, and you search until you find a price, size, and model that fits your needs.
It’s not limited to New Yorkers, either—the app exists in over 5,500 cities throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. But the real appeal? Prices for cars started in the low twenties per day.

Pay For What You Want, Not The Next Best

I rent a car to drive, not an exotic parade float to wave from, but you can do either when you go Turo.
Do I mind looking like a suburbanite in this cruiser? Nooooo.
Am I Joe Sporty looking to turn heads? Nooooo.
Steady, road-worthy, and good gas mileage; that’s my standard and Turo has met it every time.
It’s easier than I imagined when my wife decided she wanted me to handle the car side of trips, starting now.
With proper guidance I downloaded the app my wife has had on her phone for years.
Not that I’m app-averse, but she is app-friendly and makes it seem fun.
Now I know why: it’s fun.
Renting a car goes from an act of commerce to something like enjoyment.
The Turo app is engaging and thoughtful, like they want to exceed standards, not just meet them.
You’ve heard the joke about the best handling car in the world? It’s any hard driving rental car.
“You can leave this car in a flaming heap with no additional charges,” a car rental associate once said.
A Turo rental is owned by someone, maybe someone like you, and it feels good to treat them right.

Take To The Highway

While rental car agencies plow the same field over and over and planting the same crop, Turo is busy cooking up more business in innovative ways.
Take Turo on Uber for example.

Our new integration with Uber Rent, which we are officially announcing today, makes it easier than ever for Uber customers to discover and book vehicles on Turo directly through the Uber app. Whether travelers are searching for a rugged SUV for a weekend adventure or an EV for a city getaway, they can now rent the perfect vehicle for any occasion, powered by Turo hosts, without ever leaving the Uber app.
Behind the scenes, trips are still hosted and managed through the Turo app, ensuring a familiar and trusted experience. This partnership is a meaningful way to welcome even more Uber customers to the Turo community while staying true to what makes our marketplace special.

Answer with Turo when the road calls.

Our goal is to make car sharing more accessible, personalized, and effortless for guests. Our partnership with Uber is part of a broader effort to connect with travelers where they already are, on platforms they know and trust, and to introduce them to the magic of car sharing through Turo.

PS:

Whether it’s business, pleasure, or both, go Turo and you’ll get there.

PSS:

The variety is unbelievable. A guy going to Lot 1 out of Sky Harbor in Phoenix said he got an Alfa Romeo for something different.
Mine was a white RAV4, the smaller version of my everyday driver, a pearl Highlander.
When it’s time to go, go Turo. Rent a car, not a rental car.
