PROCESS MATTERS WHEN YOU WANT TO GET SOMEPLACE

process matters

Process matters if you’re going places, or want to go.

It matters even when you don’t plan on going anywhere, because plans or not, you’re heading places.

The pull of time drags us all along, kicking and screaming, fearful and spooked, and never loosens up.

Don’t want to go? Too bad, you’re still going. Process matters for a smoother ride.

Start locally, like your garage. That’s mine in the top image. It’s a problem

If I walk past an open door like this, I’d keep walking. Those green bags come from Tigard Bottle Return. They may be full of beer cans.

I would’t want to stop there, but here I am.

Process matters when a garage starts smelling like stale beer. But it’s more than stale beer, it’s moldy stuff in nasty cans and bottles. Wearing a covid mask would have helped.

I’d been dumping empties into the huge construction debris bags and taking them to the Bottle Drop and running them through the machines.

During the pandemic I’ve been taking bags down and giving them away. Which didn’t always work the way I expected.

Was I special, too special to do the inside work? Was I rich, too rich to take the time returning bottles and cans?

Or, was I lazy?

Without getting too introspective, the garage stink drove my decision to do the green bags.

A full black bag turns into three smaller green bags, can by can, bottle by bottle, each slimier than the last. I started feeling nauseated. Luckily I had a cold can of Coors Light for just such an emergency.

Imagine drinking a beer while handling moldy beer cans and bottles. Not bad, right?

When the process matters, it’s full speed ahead. Even when the process is nasty.

How does if work in your life? Do you do the hard stuff and make it fun, or hire it out?

Do you fix things? Try and fix things? Do you keep an open heart and mind? Or the other thing?

One thing to keep in mind, process matters, and your choice is part of the process.

What’s your choice?
