CLEAN UP, ORGANIZE, REPEAT

Clean up on aisle me?
I got the best advice on how it’s done, how I can do it. You, too.
“Pick one shelf, take everything off, and put back less.”
There’s nothing about starting a fire.

CRYING TIME CAN BE ANY TIME

Crying time in my family is . . . complicated.
Not one gets called a cry baby, made fun of, or ignored.
But there’s a thought that some of us aren’t fans of a good cry.
And they’re wrong.

MOUNT HOOD VIEW FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The Mount Hood view is so good from the neighborhood that streets are named after it.
That’s what you get in a town near a mountain.
You could say a town near a mountain range since there’s also a view of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams to the north, Mt. Jefferson to the south on a clear day.
But the Cascades show one mountain at a time, not an uplifted region like the Rocky Mountains that looks like an outsized gravel pit.
How’s the view from Hoodvista Lane? Beautiful:

IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, LOOK WHERE FOOD COMES FROM

Small print shows where food comes from. Smaller print explains what food factories add to improve shelf life. You need good shelf life when you ship long distance. A three year expiration date on food might be something to skip for dinner. If you know people who identify as ‘foodies’ you’ve heard about the fresh […]

BOOMER HEALTH INDEX

When No News is Good Boomer Health News. Just when you’ve turned the corner and feeling better, clothes fit better, face looks more like you remember looking, something happens. You forget to move. You decide not to get up. You don’t feel making an effort is worth the reward. You’re tired. Now what? You could […]

THERAPEUTIC SWEARING, MEDICAL MARIJUANA, CANCER

Swearing, done in the right spirit, communicates so much more than long, drawn out, explanations. Besides, how often do you need the long version? At least Kesey kept it in state with One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Sometimes A Great Notion. Blame it on confusion. Oregon is not England no matter what the […]

BOOMER FAMILY AND PAT CONROY

If The Great Santini Couldn’t Break His Family, What Broke Your Boomer Family? The author Pat Conroy, one year older than the first baby boomer, had a traumatic childhood by most accounts. He’s a good boomer spokesman for the voiceless masses who wonder why things go wrong. Call him a senior boomer. He mined his […]

OREGON NIGHT LIGHT NECKLACE FOR CAUTIOUS SEA CAPTAINS, AND YOU

One picture doesn’t do the Oregon Night Light Necklace justice But here it is according to a State Park sign. Click the pics for full size. It’s a cool light house map on a big screen. Now imagine yourself on a wooden sailboat exploring another poorly mapped coast line. Another chance to crash on the […]

MEXICO TRAVEL: PUERTO VALLARTA PERFECTION, pt3

The top down view from the seventh floor in Old Vallarta, or Viejo Vallarta, to the square.   Is it Frida Kahlo’s turquoise house? It’s the right color.   If it part of the Kahlo catalogue, she’s got octopus on her self portrait.   But it’s not Frida. Not enough eyebrow.

MEXICO TRAVEL: PUERTO VALLARTA PERFECTION, pt1

Where the heck is Puerto Vallarta? Find a good map book.   Look about two thousand miles south of Portland and you’re close.   West coast of Mexico below the Gulf of California.
