LIFETIME MEMORIES FOR THE WHITE KNIGHT

The man in white has made more than a few lifetime memories for me.
But why the white knight?
Because he came to the rescue a few times.
I joined the Army the fall after my first year of college.
Two years later I made the seamless change from soldier back to student.
Rob Brown did the legwork in Eugene while I was in Philadelphia.
When I got to Eugene I was registered, enrolled, and Rob walked me through the class selection process in Mac Court.
This was in September 1976, a different world than now.
We became college roommates after the first house I lived in got raided by the police, and the co-op I moved to the next day proved a little too cooperative.
I met a fellow student, we went out a few times and got engaged, then she graduated and moved back home.
I moved into the Rob household with the plan to follow her after spring term ended, but I dropped out and left early.
Rob was one of the guys on the sidewalk waving goodbye in 1978 when I drove off to Delaware.
We stayed in touch, I didn’t get married, and I moved to Portland in 1980.
Since then we’ve had adventures at home and on the road, from Autzen to Redmond, Wilsonville to Tigard.

Memories Of A Lifetime

From weddings to birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations, we’ve shared a lifetime of events.
From garage wrestling and trying to kick my ass, to one on one basketball that had as much wrestling as anything else, we found time to slug it out and drink beer.
It started in 7th grade in my driveway at 2175 Ohio St. North Bend, Oregon.
He came to my side of town because he’d run out of competition on his side.
The harsh rules of street ball kicked in: No blood, no foul, no whining.
Or go home.
Rob never left.

PS:

You think people will be around forever, gathering a solid group to enjoy the spread laid out on Rob and Lisa’s party table.
It’s still sinking in.

PSS:

May his memory be a blessing to all.
