LONDON HEATHROW, LAST LOOK FOR NOW

The beauty of world capitols like London and Paris shine through on the way out.

Not often is the airport one of the most memorable places, and it shouldn’t be, but based on shopping opportunities Heathrow is a must see.

Like Rodeo Drive and Caesars Forum, all of the big ticket brands are waiting at the airport.

If getting through four weeks of European travel as wife and husband wasn’t enough, now there’s a notion of, ‘We need one last memory.’

Where’s the best place to buy a souvenirs? As if Gucci was a souvenir. Maybe in Italy, not England.

We walked past all the duty free stuff from booze to jewelry and aimed for food.

What’s the last meal from London? If you said fish and chips you win.

Instead of buying something from the high end spread choosing between Bulgari, Tiffany, Gucci, or Cartier, we left with the family jewels.

Day Before Heathrow

On the last full day of England before Heathrow, my wife’s cousin in Barrington had a gathering in his home for nineteen family members. Seventeen showed up and it was a beautiful thing.

Travel experts all cheer for ‘get to know the locals’ no matter where you are. None of them could find a way to duplicate a group drawn together for a special afternoon of re-introduction.

They gave a feeling of liking each other, sharing their lives, of depending on one another.

Instead of hiding secrets so vile they can never be disclosed, or being so vile minded no one can tolerate them, the English side of my family has a family first feeling.

And they live up to it with the love they showed.
