How long is forever?

Lastly, if you had to repeat the same night forever with forever friends, what would you do?

I don’t have answers for the first two questions, but I’ve got the last one covered. This is my forever night:

I start with a movie, but not just any movie. It has to be an epic movie, so Tucker and Dale vs Evil it is.

During this intense movie of male bonding, it’s easy to dismiss the emotions. The blood and guts make it easier. No spoilers, but the display of loyalty and trust is a good lesson.

Forever Friends Big Night

Since it’s a short movie, and it’ll be on forever, the night needs something extra. The big night would include a boxing match like the battle between Fury and Wilder. Don’t those sound like perfect fight names?

Saturday night two big men faced off in the biggest match of the year and showed the world what a six foot nine guy could do in the ring. Fury boxed like an old school trained fighter with his footwork and head movement.

After Tucker and Dale I needed a dose of reality. Unfortunately, the modern prize fight production is an example of theater of the absurd in the run up to punching it out. The hitting part seemed real enough when Wilder’s ear took a Fury shot and sprung a leak.

The fight didn’t go all the way, so instead of more Tucker and Dale, find a YouTube clip of Ali vs Frazier highlights.

Their first fight was hard to watch after the way Ali ended up; he took shots to the head that looked damaging, and were.

So far on forever friends night for this writer it’s two hillbillies vs perceived evil, two lively big fighters who looked capable of evil, and two dead champions battling.

Watching Ali and Frazier was sad because I remember seeing the fight on live TV. Maybe it was taped, but my memory says I saw it live.

To lighten the mood, find a series of the Homeless Wrestler. You won’t regret it if you need proof of how an Ivy League education is the springboard to a better life.
