FISHING FAILURE = TRY AGAIN

What makes for a fishing failure?
Bad weather, wrong bait, no bites.
If that happens too many times, what do you do?
You want some salmon, you live in Oregon, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out.
Instead of a fishing trip, a fishing charter, go to Safeway with your gear.
They’ve got salmon up the wazzoo.
You’ll miss the fish hitting your line, the excitement of ‘what could it be,’ and the joy of actually landing your fish.

Landing Your Fish At Safeway

If it looks like a fish and smells like a fish, it’s probably a fish.
But it doesn’t look like a fish; more like a fish part.
Nothing wrong with fish parts if that’s all you know.
Growing up in North Bend as the designated fishing partner, so my dad didn’t go out on the ocean alone, I knew better.
I was also the designated puker; the swells get me every time.

My First Big Catch

I’ve never caught a salmon from the ocean.
My wife caught one on the Columbia after a ten hour float.
She handled the rod and reel like she’d done it all her life.
It’s our spirit fish and as fresh as they come. Deeee-lishous.
I wrote a post about it on here somewhere.

The Other Salmon In The Sea

When you crave salmon, and you do, otherwise there wouldn’t be many variations available, you get some salmon.
Frozen salmon, smoked salmon, packaged salmon, salmon in a cooler, and the salmon most people are familiar with:

What’s the expiration date, the ‘use by’ date, for canned salmon?
I don’t know, but it’s got to be the longest of any shown here.
What’s your expiration date on failed fishing? Longer than canned salmon.

PS:

For some of us, the dream of the big fish is more than enough.

PSS:

We long-time Oregonians urge new people to experience the ocean with a fishing rod.
The coastline is the destination for new fishermen and women.
Dress warm and stay dry.
This post was inspired by Cheryl W with her fish.
