DANG GREEN ON OREGON FOOTBALL GAME DAY

Dang Green started strong for Oregon football on Saturday with six big boys left in the Safeway cooler.

All six in the cart? Check.

It felt like a good omen with three fans watching the game together from the same place.

I’ll do the math: Two each.

Wrapped in a game worn Oregon Duck shirt inherited from one of the biggest Duck fans ever, another good omen, the pre-game began to wind down.

The problem wasn’t the Dang Green or the three official plaid Duck shirts we all wore. It was worse:

The team looked like it was fading away, ready to accept a loss from a good USC team.

We know USC is good because the announcers said so.

“This is a good USC team,” said former Penn State quarterback Todd Blackledge.

Thanks, Todd. Don’t forget to rub Oklahoma State in if you get a chance.

But the fade feeling was real, along with the hoopla of playing in the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Stadium with the 2028 summer games on the way.

It was hard to put a finger on, but it was as real as could be.

They faded a little.

 

 

Then a lot.

 

 

Oregon Football Takes A Hit

College football has changed in many ways, but one remains the same: big people run into each other.

As a result, people get hurt.

Saturday the Oregon Duck quarterback got hurt doing what the game has deemed healthy by sliding at the end of a run instead of getting drilled by by a defender.

Dante Moore slid at the end of a run and still got knocked out, way out, twitching on the turf kind of knockout, taken away in an ambulance kind of knockout.

The pre-game people said the season would be over for which ever team lost, and Oregon looked every bit of lost in the darkness.

Then Dylan Raiola lit the Duck light.

 

 

It got brighter.

 

 

 

And brighter.

The Ducks came back to life, the chickens came home to roost, and Dang Green moved up.
