TWITTER RULES: BREAK THEM AND GET A TIME OUT

Twitter rules have been enforced all along, so why dedicate a post? Because I broke the rules and got banned , briefly banned. My twitter ban lasted twelve hours. I would have been longer if I had done something wrong. Like what, you ask?

CITY TRASH FROM PORTLAND TO VANCOUVER

City trash comes with the territory. More people, more garbage, more clean up. Except the clean up part is lacking, and it’s not the first time. Take New York City trash for example. More people than Portland, which is bigger than Staten Island, but half the size of the other Burroughs. I moved to the […]

MALE IDENTIFICATION: BASIC OR FUNDAMENTAL

Male identification is more than name, rank, and serial number, or social security, birthday, driver’s license number. Why? “Because men evolve, man. Like, we’re not who you think we are.” Unfortunately, especially for men, we are who they think we are based on media portrayal. Even if we’re not, we get painted with the same […]

BLAZER SMILES AFTER STONE FACED WIN

Blazer smiles came out after a win over Toronto, a game played in Florida. Enes Kanter may have started early when he posted this on twitter with a caption of “Focus on the Jersey.” He’s got a great smile, but more on that later.

GUN SAFETY NOT ABOUT JUDGEMENT: AN OPINION

Gun safety means good gun owners who know what guns are for and how they work. What they’re not for? Mass shootings in schools, churches, grocery stores, or massage parlors. What guns are for?

PRIVATE PEOPLE, OR JUST HIDING AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH

Private people learn the lesson early. Don’t talk. But is that good manners, or something more complex. Call me suspicious, but quiet people need to follow the rules just like everyone else. Engage, contribute, and make it count. Do that when it’s called for be as quiet as you want the rest of the time. […]

BODY WEIGHT: A FAT MAN’S CONFESSION WITH NO SHAME

Body weight became an issue for me in 7th grade. And it wasn’t fat shaming. That came later. In seventh grade there was a football weight limit for playing in the backfield. One twenty if I remember right. What I remember very accurately is I weighed slightly more, like five pounds. Coach Peasley, a small […]

RONSTADT RULE AND SINGING WOMEN IN THE SEVENTIES

Ronstadt Rule? If you ever commit to an eternal crush, it means forever. Music women in the seventies were deserving then, and deserving now, none more than Linda Ronstadt. With their songs more available, “Hey, Siri, play Linda Ronstadt,” they are never far away. In case you think you’re all alone in your crush, here’s […]

GUITAR MAGIC FROM FIVE STAR GUITARS IN BEAVERTON OREGON

Guitar magic happens. It happens in flea markets, Craigslist, and stores when someone picks up a guitar that they can’t put down. It happens in magazines, videos, and concerts when they see new guitars, or hear a sound coming from new players and old guitars. Yesterday it happened in Five Star Guitars. Was it worthy […]

BETTER DAYS AND THE RANDOM MOMENTS THAT INSPIRE THEM

We had a table discussion about historic moments that led to better days. Four adults, three of whom don’t like things called table discussion. Me: But we’re at the table. One in the group gave their version of a history and moved on. But another in the group made a correction. The rest of group […]
