AMERICAN MEETINGS, OREGON STYLE

Today’s American meetings will be held in the most American of places.
Anyone seeking to learn more about America should memorize these names.
Americans should memorize them, too.
We forget so quickly. Where do we meet?

Together, the meeting places sound like a dream from long ago.

We’ll meet at the city park, the overpass, Drake Park, Whale Park, on the boardwalk, at the circuit court, and downtown.
Meet at the county courthouse, the U.S. courthouse, city hall, the big flag pole, salmon fountain, max square, kayak launch, the hitching post, public library, on the sidewalk, the church,
Look for meetings at the outlet mall, wild stallion, and universal plaza.

Oregon A To Z

Some people see signs for American meetings and ask why?
Others see them and ask why not?
This is my mug asking to stand for an hour for the vulnerable people getting pulled off the street, out of cars, by strangers.

It’s a face asking for a little more participation, not a donation, not an anonymous twenty bucks.
You don’t need to be a high school all-American, Army veteran, history graduate, husband, and father.
And Granddad to the most precious people there’ll ever be.
That’s my excuse. What’s yours?

PS: After living long enough to send out invitations to things, baby boomers know how hard it is to get anyone to show up anywhere.
PSS: Who is invited to the American meetings? Me, you, and all of the rest. See you there.
