PORTLAND RECHARGE PRIMER

Walk down Broadway and you can feel the Portland pulse, the Portland recharge, which is no surprise when you see the volcano map.
But, more than that, the city feels primed for a renaissance, a Portland Renaissance.
And that means an Oregon Renaissancea?

. . . new growth of activity or interest in something, especially art, literature, or music

Start by turning left here and going down Broadway toward Burnside.

Looking downhill, the city opens up.
Look hard enough and you’ll see the Moda Center, but we’re not looking that hard.
This is the sparkle a couple of blocks down:

You’ll pass by this in between:

Portland doors open to a city ready to shine.

In spite of the press from recent years, I feel the Portland recharge.

Wander Around And You’ll Feel It Too

Building facades take on a different feeling in late afternoon sun and slanting shadows.

Side streets show a tunnel effect.

If you’ve felt charmed by other cities, Portland will cast a spell on you.

The Old, The New, The Hopes, And Dreams

A modern glass and steel tower three blocks away from brick apartments?
A wall of cement cubicles behind more mortar and brick?

The combinations and juxtaposition of materials and shapes so close together are mind boggling.
Who said rooftop bar?

Justice is a stone’s throw away, but don’t do that.

A reminder to Oregon: This is your city.
Not Seattle, not San Francisco, but Portland.
Get to know it better and let your imagination roam.
You can do that.

PS:

This is your green light to move forward.

PS:

Get a Portland Recharge on the 10th street entry to the Rothko Pavilion.

Turn it up.
