LEBRON AND THE NBA FINALS

Struggle is the hidden beauty of sports. And LeBron.

lebronWatching the best player in the world rally his team sends a message to all, but mostly to baby boomers.

By the time you hit your fifties and sixties you know struggle all too well. It’s a personal thing, as in we struggle alone.

Now we’ve got LeBron.

Since we’re all superstars in our own minds, and the rest of the world would know it if only we could raise our own team/family to greatness, we struggle.

When the master of the hardwood struggles he gives the rest of us room to breath. We get an extra pop of enthusiasm, and who doesn’t like that.

I’ll have two, thanks.

Because of LeBron we’ve all been upgraded. How?

We could never dream of competing against LeBron on the best day of our lives.

Not the best week, month, or year.

By the way he’s been working NBA talent in these finals proves hardly any of them have a chance against him either.

While that doesn’t make any of us NBA quality, or even Alvin Gentry-like with his 60 year old jam, LeBron shortens the gap in fans who dream of the big time.

How good is one player? Put LeBron on any other team. Would they do as well as Cleveland?

He would improve any team he played on, except the Knicks who sent their team to Ohio.

LeBron, you’ve shown us what it means to play through hardship. Instead of taking the easy road and lining up a team the way D-Wade did in Miami, you went all Thomas Wolfe and made your way back home.

You might be the Chip Kelly of the NBA, LeBron.

The message: “Here’s the program. If you can’t adapt your game you won’t last long here.”

Smart guys say the Cavs are a year ahead of schedule by making the finals. Just by getting there.

Add the injuries and the success you’ve had so far and it feels semi-miraculous. We like how those words sound together.

LeBron and semi-miraculous.

Games played in the finals are the stuff of legend. The way you’ve opened up the NBA is legendary enough, LeBron, but you’ve gone even further.

You’re taking us along for the ride. I see you are 30 years old by the calendar; by experience you’re ageless like all great legends.

Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill, and LeBron James.

Thank you, LeBron. We need more legends and you’re right on time.

Go Cavs.
